Showtime Sound LLC: Expanding Their Business and Their Sound

Their name is Showtime Sound LLC, but they do far more than just sound. What started as a two-man company in 2006, has grown into a live event production logistics company providing not just audio, but video, lighting, staging and backline for productions nationwide, and even worldwide. From the Summer Concert Series in Baker Park, to University Commencement ceremonies across Maryland, to massive comedy tour headliners, the team at Showtime Sound puts their heart and soul into creating the best possible experience for an audience.

Showtime Sound is made up of three major divisions: Touring, Music & Festivals, and Corporate. The touring division goes global, covering five continents. Mostly made up of comedy tours, these events occur in arenas and large theaters and include a crew of up to a dozen people. The music division provides logistics for concerts and festivals, which includes a variety of venues, each with its own unique audio challenges. State-of-the-art technology is used to provide a top-quality sound and visual experience. The third division covers corporate events, galas and conferences, as well as ceremonies for higher education.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, live events suddenly came to a halt. The team at Showtime Sound was able to pivot and launched a trucking company called Showtime Sound Trucking. This addition was able to support the business while events were on hold, and the trucks have since been integrated into the events company to support hauling equipment on tours. While Showtime Sound has been a part of Frederick County’s business community for nearly two decades, they took on another project during the pandemic that further ingrained them in the local community. In 2020 and 2021, Showtime Sound teamed up with local sponsors to hold drive-in movies and concerts at the Frederick Fairgrounds. During a time of social distancing, these events gave Frederick residents a fun and safe way to get out of the house and experience in-person entertainment.

Now that live events are back in full force, the Showtime Sound team is busier than ever. The company is expanding into a new space in the Riverside section of Frederick, which will nearly double the square-footage they currently have. And as they expand their space and their crew, the company’s use of technology is ever-changing. Their latest venture, immersive hyperreal sound, fully surrounds guests with an audio experience that makes them feel like they are part of the performance. This system takes sound from a flat plane to panorama. You can learn more about the technical side of immersive hyperreal sound in Showtime Sound’s blog.

From concerts, to comedy tours, to performances large and small, Showtime Sound LLC brings the latest in technology to event production. We can’t wait to see what this Frederick-based company brings to the event industry next! You can follow along with Showtime Sound on social media to catch their behind-the-scenes photos, and of course their “What’s in the warehouse Wednesday” posts. Check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
